I created this image at the end of last year for Two Roads Brewing. I finally got around to printing the edition on my new (old) Vandercook Proof Press.
Hand carved, hand printed linoleum block print, Hop Air Balloons Over Sleeping Giant was the 2016 Two Roads Brewing CONN Artist Contest Winner, and is featured (larger than life on a 30 foot fermenter tank) in the Tasting Room at Two Roads Brewery in Stratford, Connecticut.
Each print is printed on exquisite, hand made, cotton rag paper, that has been hand marbled. Each impression is an individual as the background of the marbled paper is unique in its design.
Prints measure 12 x 20 and are signed and numbered. Each colorway is limited to 50 impressions. The print features a single cab vw bus resting in a field (near my house), with my local mountain – Sleeping Giant, standing silently in the background as hot air balloons, shaped like hops float freely above.

My house was built in 1773, before the United States of America even existed. It was built by hand, by men, who most likely could not even read. The foundation was cut from the ridge directly across the street, (we have affectionately named that spot, foundation hill).
This house has stood through the formation of this nation. Through wars, revolutionary and civil; wars of the world (two times). Wars that were cold and some that were fought in jungles and in deserts so very far away that the people who built this house could not have even contemplated.
Our house has stood through hurricanes, and blizzards, and house fires and floods. This house has stood its’ ground gracefully and sternly for almost 250 years, so when Thanksgiving rolls around it is where my family congregates. To give thanks mostly. Thanks for everyone being there another year, for health and good fortune, and for those of us who live in this house- that this house still stands.
Screen Print/Block Print in Support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and their fight against the Dakota Access Pipe Line. I collaborated with Artist and Screen Printer, Wayne Allen (http://97ghostsdesigns.bigcartel.com/), who developed the concept and printed the gorgeous metallic background(s). He then sent them up to me and I added my own ideas and cut and block printed the image and text. Print Measures 11 x 14 and is signed by both artists. Print edition Red: x/10 Blue x/30.

A lot of people ask me where I get my linoleum from. I use Dick Blick Battleship grey linoleum. The good folks at Blick are excellent at providing a nice consistent product. What they are not good at is cutting their mounted sheets square, which makes registration difficult without recutting the blocks on a table saw. Furthermore, they are down right terrible at shipping said sheets of mounted lino. My solution for this prombles is simple. I buy 100 foot rolls of unmounted lino and mount it myself.
I was recently hired to create a logo for a business card for a medical marijuana company in Jacksonvlle, Oregon called Applegate Alchemy. I had an idea… What if the image WAS the business card. Ownership was enthusiastic about my idea. Now there is no way I can carve print the size of a business card, so i went big and had it reduced down into some great cards. I really enjoyed creating this and helping Applegate develop their brand’s identity. Proofs are available in my shop: http://marcguertincreative.bigcartel.com/product/applegate-alchemy-the-grass-is-always-greener
You’re going to have to wait and see.
